Help! am i entitled to incapacity benefit?

i have been off work for 4 weeks due to complications during pregnancy, i changed my working hours after having my son which means i don't pay national insurance as my pay is low and also not entitled to sick pay, i have only stopped paying national insurance in the last 9 months but paid it previously, does national insurance have anything to do with receiving incapacity benefit? also my partner works 40hours a week does his earnings affect me receiving this benefits?
